Sometimes I wonder…

I am here at the park where I put all my thoughts to rest. Across the river lies the city. Some dense fog seems to be leaving the city. Prob kinda hard to see in this picture. One of the things that has just crossed my mind is how much mystery the river or any large body of water like the ocean has. I mean, do you really know what is going on in it? I’ve had many dreams where I am being chased by a tsunami yet somehow I and my little sister survive.
I started thinking what if all of the sudden something comes out and drags me into the river. By no means am I scared of the ocean, but I wonder what if. Have you ever stared at the ocean or river with no one else around? What controls those little waves. Can you really predict how big the next wave will be?
When I stare, to me, the ocean/river seems like a sleeping giant waiting for theright moment to strike.
Those of you wondering if I have ever been stranded in the ocean, well yes. The boat I was on ran out of gas. Stuck in the dense fog of the Peruvian coast. That is probably when I started to respect the ocean and other large bodies of water. If this entry doesn’t make any sense to you, it’s cause it literally is a brain fart. I miss the city. I have to make it tomorow.

The Gorillaz album came out on Tuesday. Go google it for more info, it’s called Plastic Beach. Within the album there exists one song which has been on repeat for the past 2 days. So I shall now share it with you people. The song is called RhineStone Eyes.

Who wants a chullo?

During my last trip to Peru in August (see this Photo Album for evidence), I picked up some goods for myself. I got some pens, jackets, sweaters, chocolate, and chullos. What are chullos? you say, well they are what you see to the left of this paragraph.

Traditionally made out of alpaca, chullos are hats used in the Andes. They always have two long ear flats that help prevent body heat escape through the ears.

I’ve managed to survive the winter cold without a jacket or hat, until now. I know it sounds weird, but to an extent I am proud. Anyways…I searched for my chullos so that they could protect me from this brutal cold. When I tried them on, they felt pretty tight. Turns out that I had forgotten to try them on when I bought them.

I really don’t like having things laying around my room/house that aren’t being used, so I am giving them away. The grey one has a whole on one of the ears. Other than that, they are in perfect condition. I really don’t want to throw them out. So if your interested, hit me up!

P.S.

It’s been about 4 months and I still got some chocolate left. I am willing to share if you guys want. Just send me a comment or email or tweet or watever. I am very reachable.

What I created in my spare time

Over the summer, I had a lot of spare time. What did I do with the free time? I customized MacBook’s OS X dock. It was 50% searching online for dock icons and 50% hand customization.

Artist of the Week: theBronx / Mariachi el Bronx [updated]

Artist of the Week is Back! At least for now. Out of the blue I found these guys called the Bronx/Mariachi el Bronx.

I don’t have too much info of them since I just found out about them an hour ago. The singer has an amazing voice and the band is awesome. I am a little confused as to what is what. This is what I got so far.

The Bronx is a rock band whom you would typically hear on games such as RoadRash and TonyHawk ProSkater. They are pure rock goodness. Mariachi el Bronx is a side project of the lead singer. The difference is that in the Mariachi, they are all dressed in the typical Mariachi outfit and are equipped with all typical acoustic mariachi instruments.

What do they sound like? To be honest, pure bliss. The songs are in English and the lyrics aren’t your typical mariachi lyrics. They are awesome. Trust me one listen you will be hooked. Here is a quick playlist I made of their videos. Oh yeah, their videos are awesome too.

Trip to Peru (Recap)

The trip to Peru was pretty awesome. I tried Peruvian Octopus for the first time which was pretty good. Although, I pretty much pigged out when ever I saw a good looking plate of food. I also spent most of my time exploring Lima by myself on purpose (I wanted to become acquainted with the city I used to frequent as a child).

I was able to attend the Procession of El Señor de Los Milagros, which is a huge event for Peruvians all around the world. Unfortunately, I was not able to take any pictures because I was denied permission to take the DSLR to the event. There was an issue with thieves and expensive cameras that I didn’t understand, since the amount of crime in Lima has gone down dramatically over the years.

Towards the end of the trip, I was able to go to a couple of bars with my cousins. It turned out to be a pretty fun night. We all made a few new friends and I’ll leave it at that.

I have a lot of pictures of the trip that I have yet to post. I’ve posted most of them on Facebook because Flickr has this 200 photo limit on non Pro accounts. I am also looking for a WordPress plug-in or theme that will allow me to make nice looking photo albums, preferably nonflash. Maybe this will work?

A few more days to go until the trip to Peru.

It will almost two years since I was last in Peru and almost 4 years since I’ve gone with my entire family. I recently found out that one of my little cousins is going to have spleen surgery. Although it is bad that he is undergoing surgery, I am extremely hopeful that he will be ok. I guess one of my goals on the trip is to calm my grandmother down a litttle. I am not expecting this trip to be filled with thrills like my other ones, but I know it will be a memorable one.

For the first time ever I will not be bringing my laptop and will depend only on my iPhone. I will not be having 3G service because of cost but should have wifi access. That should make this trip fun.
